Women of Reform Judaism - Sisterhood of Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim
The organization known as Sisterhood of Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim was created in the late 1800’s and in the early 1900’s became affiliated with the Women of Reform Judaism, WRJ, The National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods.
The purpose of the organization is to bring women of the Congregation into association with one another for the promotion of Jewish values and causes. We strive to cultivate and promote the ideals of Reform Judaism through spiritual and educational activity. A major goal of the Sisterhood is to assist the Congregation in all of its endeavors. We strive to promote and maintain the good will of the community at large, serving Jewish and humanitarian causes. We encourage the interest and participation of the women of the Congregation in religious, cultural and social activities.
The Sisterhood of KKBE has made the youth of our congregation a strong priority and supports the Religious School as well as our Temple Youth Group. We do fundraising such as our annual bazaar and use the profits to benefit the religious school and other groups and projects that we feel will benefit from our assistance.

Brotherhood
The Brotherhood of K.K. Beth Elohim offers a variety of activities that enhance religious and congregational life. In addition to providing ushers for all religious services, the Brotherhood hosts a welcoming cookout for the Jewish students at the College of Charleston, prepares and serves dinner at the Crisis Ministry shelter for the homeless, and is responsible for putting up and taking down the Sukkah each year. We hold monthly dinner meetings (usually on the last Thursday of the month) with guest speakers and sometimes host Sunday morning breakfast meetings. The Brotherhood also holds events for its members, including nights at local sporting events as well as golf outings and kayak trips. It is important to note that membership in the Brotherhood is free for a number of months to new members of the Congregation.
CHASTY Temple Youth Program
Congregation K.K. Beth Elohim has an active Temple Youth Group for teenage members, which is affiliated with the Southeast Federation of Temple Youth (SEFTY) and the National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY). Members enhance their identity as young Jewish adults by participating in a variety of religious and social activities. Members may attend regional and national conclaves and conventions.
Committees
Committees are vital to the day-to-day operation of the congregation. Members are encouraged to serve on a variety of committees and to become involved in the planning and development of future programs. Committee membership is a good way to meet new people and to feel an integral part of the congregation. Committees at Congregation K.K. Beth Elohim are listed on the application form.
