KKBE Community
Sisterhood
Sisterhood is the organization of the women of our synagogue who join together in friendship. We are women of all ages bonded by three factors-we are women, we support the tenets of Reform Judaism and we support KKBE.
The organization known as the Sisterhood of Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim was created in the late 1800’s. In the early 1900’s, it became affiliated with the Women of Reform Judaism, WRJ, The National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods.
Sisterhood strives to cultivate and promote the ideals of Reform Judaism through spiritual and educational activities. As we learn and serve we share friendship, fun and prayers and gain a sense of belonging. Sisterhood promotes and maintains the good will of the community at large, serving Jewish and humanitarian causes, as well as assisting the Congregation in all of its endeavors.

Brotherhood
The Brotherhood of KKBE offers a variety of activities that enhance religious and congregational life. In addition to providing ushers for all worship services, the Brotherhood hosts a welcoming cookout for the Jewish students at the College of Charleston. Brotherhood is also responsible for putting up and taking down the Sukkah each year. Dinner meeting are held each month, (usually on the last Thursday of the month) with guest speakers. Occasionally, Brotherhood also hosts Sunday morning breakfast meetings for its members, including nights at local sporting events as well as golf outings and kayak trips. It is important to note that membership in the Brotherhood is free for a number of months to new members of the Congregation.
Committees
Committees are vital to the day-to-day operation of the congregation. Members are encouraged to serve on a variety of committees and to become involved in the planning and development of future programs. Committee membership is a good way to meet new people and to feel an integral part of the congregation. There are a wide variety of committees from which to choose, such as the Caring Committee, Social Action, Life Long Learning, Fine Arts and more. To serve on a committee, contact the Temple office at 723-1090.
