Welcome

From Rabbi Stephanie Alexander...
We at Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim take great pride both in our deep history and exciting future. In keeping with the principles of Reform Judaism, we strive to honor diversity and foster includsion as we work to build a community of common purpose. That purpose, as articulated in our mission, is synonymous with those endeavors which have inspired and sustained the Jewish people through countless generations: Torah - lifelong Jewish education; Avodah - worship and ritual that elevates the spirit; and G'milut Chasaidm - those acts of loving kindness that bring healing and justice to a broken world.
We hope you will be inspired to join us for anything that piques your interest or ignites your imagination, for, while these activities do, we believe, sustain the Jewish soul, the spirit soars even higher when they are performed in a community. We look forward to welcoming you with open arms.

From Our President...
Thank you for visiting KKBE on-line. For 260 years, KKBE has served the spiritual and communal needs of Charleston’s Jewish Community. Many of Charleston’s and our nation’s revered leaders have come from the ranks of our congregation. We take great pride in our role in history. It was not by sheer luck that the Jewish community of Charleston and the Carolinas flourished. Religious tolerance and freedom of worship have existed here since the days of the earliest settlers.
Today, we are a large and growing congregational family. Our historic sanctuary and the other buildings on our campus teem with activities on a daily basis. Our outreach programs insure that geographic distance does not prevent anyone from worshiping or participating in our programs. We are diverse, energetic, and welcoming. Above all else, we ask you to visit us for the day, or for life.

David H. Jaffee
President
