Rabbi Stephanie Alexander Intended as a companion program to the previous week’s discussion of The Sun Does Shine (though attendance at one is not required for participation in the other), this session will look at the Jewish texts that inform Judaism’s views on capital punishment. We’ll look at the crimes for which the death penalty is invoked in the Hebrew Bible, the treatment these situations receive from the rabbis in the Talmud, and current Jewish practice regarding capital punishment in Israel.
