Thursday, October 24, 2019 25 Tishrei 5780

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

When renowned Jewish American author Herman Wouk passed away this May, just days before his 104th birthday, he left behind an enduring literary legacy, which included bestselling novelsThe Winds of War, War and Remembrance, and Marjorie Morningstar. Wouk won numerous literary prizes throughout his long and distinguished career, including the Pulitzer Prize in 1952 for his novel, The Caine Mutiny. In this presentation, Dr. Ezra Cappell, Professor of Jewish Studies and English at the College of Charleston, will offer an overview of Wouk’s significant legacy and career. (No prior reading required.) Wouk was the uncle of our beloved congregant, Dr. Mark Green (z”l). We are privileged that Judith Green will share family photos and anecdotes to give an even fuller picture of this tremendous man whom NPR said “made American literature a kinder, smarter, better place.” With Judith Green and Dr. Ezra Cappell
