The KKBE Museum

KKBE's Museum preserves and showcases the history of the congregation and its members. Among the items on display are an original painting of the interior of the 1792 synagogue by Solomon N. Carvalho, photographs and documents of members and the organizations which they established, and prayer books used by members dating from 1766, among other memorabilia.

The museum is listed on Charleston's Museum Mile. It is open to visitors from Sunday to Friday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Our museum is closed on Wednesdays and some holidays. Please check the KKBE calendar at www.kkbe.org/calendar for more information, or call the KKBE office at 843-723-1090.

For safekeeping, some of the archives of the KKBE have been placed in Jewish Heritage Special Collections of The Marlene and Nathan Addlestone Library at the College of Charleston, which is located at the corner of Calhoun and Coming Streets. Inquiries may be addressed to that institution at 66 George Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29401 or call 843-953-8000.
