Sayyad was born in Baku, Azerbaijan and moved to Greensboro, NC in 1993 with his family after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. He grew up in Greensboro and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics at Emory University in 2011. He went on to pursue a Master of Public Health degree at Dartmouth before starting medical school at Georgetown University. Throughout his studies he always managed to retain a fascination with both cardiovascular physiology and pathology. After graduating with his MD in 2018, he completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill and subsequently matched at MUSC for his fellowship in Adult Cardiovascular Diseases, where he is a current fellow. He is set to complete his fellowship in June of 2024 and plans to return back to UNC Chapel Hill for an additional year of training in interventional cardiology, to subspecialize in minimally invasive procedures such as heart catheterizations and to treat acute myocardial infarctions. In his spare time, he enjoys to read most anything that comes his way but mostly science fiction, travel, run, and spend time with his wife, daughter, extended family, and friends. He hopes to learn how to fish in his last year living by the water and is appreciative of the opportunity to be with you all today.
