7:00 PM - 9:00 PMJewish Mysticism - often called "Kabbalah" - has been an integral part of Jewish theology since its foundation, influencing a wide range of contemporary Jewish rituals and prayers even within denominations that sought to cut it out. This class will introduce participants to its basic ideas and contributions to Judaism.
Joshua Shanes is Professor of Jewish Studies, and Director of the Arnold Center for Israel Studies, at the College of Charleston. He has published widely on modern Jewish politics and religion and is currently teaching a course on Jewish Mysticism at the College
