With recent events and the upcoming election once again putting the issue of immigration reform front and center, this year’s Social Action Shabbat will focus on the experience of the refugee. Our service will reflect the Jewish people’s journey as refugees, and the Torah’s most often repeated commandment to care for the stranger. Rabbi Alexander will also share reflections from her recent participation in a rabbinic delegation to the U.S. southern border to witness firsthand the experience of those seeking refuge and asylum in the United States.
